The President of the Republic Indonesia reviews the location of disaster NTT

Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) left for East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) this morning. Jokowi is scheduled to directly observe a number of locations affected by the disaster in NTT.

Based on a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, Friday (9/4/2021), Jokowi left for NTT using the Indonesian Presidential Airplane-1. Jokowi and his entourage took off from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, at around 06.00 WIB and were scheduled to land at Frans Seda Airport, Sikka Regency.

As is known, 22 cities/regencies in NTT were hit by disasters due to the Seroja tropical cyclone from April 2 to April 5, 2021. Several districts/cities that were affected by the disaster include Kupang, Lembata, and Adonara.

NTT Governor Viktor Bungtilu Laiskodat has declared an emergency response status starting April 6 to May 5. During this visit, President Jokowi was accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono.

Presidential Military Secretary Marsda M Tonny Harjono, Paspampres Commander Major General TNI Agus Subiyanto, and Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin also participated in this group.

Previously, the Head of BNPB Doni Monardo provided an update on the handling of natural disasters in NTT and NTB. Doni said that until now there were 165 dead victims and 45 missings.

Doni also explained the data on victims who were found dead to this day. On Adonara Island, 71 people have been found dead and 5 are still missing.

"Next 43 people in Lembata Regency (died), 25 missings," Doni said in a conference on the BNPB YouTube account, Thursday (8/4).
